Letter Found Between Two Floorboards
It’s the first week of summer
There are ten of us
Quilted on the grass
Our children have balloons
Tied to their ankles
The game ends
When all of the balloons are broken
Music plays from a tinny speaker
And all of our ice has melted
The girls do their best
To keep the balloons away from the boys
And vice-versa
I remember, that evening
The park was covered in feathers
Nylon feathers
And our children spoke in high-pitched voices
